Harmonica Boy

We decided to get the musical instruments out this morning and Danny enjoys playing the Harmonica, I think it suits him. Then he suggested we get the washing basket out for 'Row row row your boat' We did this once at baby music.

We then went for a little stroll in the pram, Danny sometimes holds Serena's hand in the pram.

Danny absolutely loves rice rolls and it's a great way to get him to eat raw veg. He is using the vegetti here to make Zucchini spaghetti and then we wrapped the rice paper around it, delicious!

A bit of colour sorting going on here with the Lego

Water play always goes down well with Danny and Serena

We love Danny having longer hair and like him wearing it in curtains but we like to keep it out of his eyes, so it was time for a trim today.

We bumped into Meeka on our way to the library this afternoon so we had an impromptu play

Googly Eyes

Danny loves to cook so this morning he made Buckwheat Pancakes, a Bear Grylls recipe. Danny loves pouring the ingredients into the Thermomix and turning it on to blend them all together. We sat on a rug and shared the pancakes, delicious! Danny is also learning to wash his own dishes after he eats, although he usually ends up washing the bench!

Danny found a snail outside who has became his friend. He has named him Googly Eyes for obvious reasons. 'look what happens when you touch him' said Danny in amusement as he watched Googly eyes retreat back into his shell. We have made a little home for him and fed him fresh green leaves. He even came with us to visit the residents at the nursing home.

I love to give Danny a random object to see where his imagination takes him. He decided to transform an empty paper towel roll into a Tiger and used a lace as his tail then he painted him.

I am looking at the Steiner curriculum for Kindergarten which is what level Danny will be in in January next year. I am casually home schooling him right now as school for him isn't compulsory until he turns 6 and when he is 6 he will most likely go to school as he seems to be better off around lots of kids. I hope to get him into a Steiner or Montessori school but there isn't one here at present, only his Montessori Pre School which he is enjoying, so I just have to bring Steiner to us by learning as much as I can about it all.

Whale Watching

Danny's ego was challenged at the park today when the girls had climbed the rope right to the top. He is very cautious of heights! He didn't make it to the top today but he climbed higher than he has climbed before!

The black figure in between the 2 posts is a whale
There were a few whales at Castletown Beach today and we were lucky enough to see them. The photo isn't great but you could see them bobbing up and down for air.

Frenchman's Peak

Today we decided to climb Frenchman's Peak, it was a perfect day for it! Danny did a great job at climbing it with no winging at all and doing Spiderman moves too there was no stopping him! As we were half way up a lady passing us on her way down pointed at Serena on my back and said 'You know what? Swap' as she pointed to Davie and I said 'Nah...I have bigger arm than he has!'  Danny was intrigued by the nature that surrounded him as he climbed, pausing to smell the flowers and pointing at one plant saying 'That's spiky!' He picked up some moss asking what it was whilst closely scruitinsing it. So curious about t he world around him. He saw a pretty wildflower too. When we eventually reached the top the view was spectacular and people from al over the world were at the top admiring the view and snapping photos.

We stopped at Hells Fire for a BBQ after we clambered down the peak. We ate lamb that Davie had humanely killed the week before. It was lamb that had been enjoying a good life on a friends farm. We then marvelled at the beach and said hello to a Kangaroo with a Joey in its pouch.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog Playful Serenity. This is an account of what I do with my kids day to day. I am a huge fan of Waldorf Steiner and his philosophy. Feel free to look at the photos and write ups.
